Kids Kloset Consignment Store
The Shop is open Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to noon. We accept consignment items (children’s clothing, toys, children’s accessories and maternity wear). At this time we are especially looking for maternity clothing – our selection is low and there are many ladies looking for these items!! At this time we are also accepting fall/winter clothing. You can drop them off at the Kids Kloset or MFRC during business hours. For more information please call the Kids Kloset at 694-2222 ext. 5321. If you ever stop by the Kids Kloset and find the door closed come see the Volunteer Services Coordinator at the MFRC office or call 694-2222 ext. 5324.
We are currently in a need of more volunteers in the Kids Kloset. So, if you are interested in meeting new people, just getting out of the house or want to try something new just give me a call and we can start your training. Remember, when you volunteer at the MFRC you can book your children in at the TCL Early Learning Centre for free!
How does the Kids Kloset work?
- Bring your items into the Kids Kloset during store hours OR to the Volunteer Services Coordinator at the MFRC.
- We will get you to fill out a sheet listing all of your items and the prices YOU want to sell them for. (We have a suggested price list to assist you.) Consignment Sheet English
Consignment Sheet French - We will assign you an account # and collect your annual membership fee of $2.00.
- Your items will be tagged and put out for sale.
- When your items are sold, we retain a 20% commission and pay you the remaining 80% of the sale! Cha-Ching!
- The Kids Kloset will continue to display your consigned items for a period of 6 months, after which a staff member will notify you that your items may be picked up or donated.
- We accept children’s clothing from sizes newborn up to size 7, as well as all maternity clothing, kid’s toys, books and videos.
- All items must be laundered, unstained and in good condition. Items may be accepted or refused at the discretion of the Kids Kloset staff.
- Any larger items, (i.e.: strollers, high chairs, etc.) will be accepted in accordance with safety standards and if space permits.
Is There Anything Else I Should Know?
- The Kids Kloset is run entirely by volunteers! We are always looking for people to join the team…If you are interested in donating some of your time, give the Volunteer Services Coordinator a call @ ext. 5324 for more info or to start training. REMEMBER…child care is FREE when you volunteer!
- The Kids Kloset also oversees both the Baby Equipment Lending Library & the Toy Lending Library. So pop in anytime to see all of the great items available to borrow!
Toy Lending Library
This program provides an opportunity for individuals to sign out up to three toys for their children for a 2 week period. There is only a small fee of $10 per year for your membership required. This is an excellent opportunity to have access to a wide variety of toys without having to spend a lot of money. It also gives you a chance to “test drive” a toy before you purchase it. We have many toys in the Library and a catalogue is available for you to look through at the Kids Kloset Consignment Store and at the receptionist desk at the MFRC. If you would like to sign out a toy and the Kids Kloset is closed please call the Volunteer Services Coordinator at ext. 5324.
Baby Equipment Lending Library
The Baby Equipment Lending Library is a program that can be utilized by all military personnel. We have items available for you to sign out for a 2-week period. Our library includes strollers, exersaucers, car seats, a high chair, a booster seat, playpens, a queen size air mattress...and more! There will be a $5 fee and a $25 deposit (1-2 items) or a $10 fee and a $50 deposit (3-4 items). The deposit is fully refundable as long as the items are returned in the same condition. These items are often very useful for families visiting, families posted or on house hunting trips. You can see a catalogue of our items at the Kids Kloset, located on the lower floor of the Fitness Sport and Recreation Complex.
