Welcome and Community Orientation
Frequent relocations are a reality of military life and may contribute to a sense of isolation and lack of connection with a community. To enhance CF quality of life, the Moose Jaw MFRC provides information, activities, and services that help to welcome and orient families to their new community and assist in making their transition as smooth as possible.
The Moose Jaw MFRC coordinates or works with other community agencies to offer:
- Contact with the member and his/her family prior to their arrival, welcome packages, phone calls, and other support as necessary.
- An annual Open House/Family Fun Day is held in conjunction with PSP and 15 Wing Moose Jaw every August.
- Various social opportunities are planned throughout the year to assist families connect with other military families and feel welcome in their new community.
- Information and referral services provide families with information regarding their new community. A comprehensive database of local agencies is maintained.
- The member and his/her family are contacted when they receive their posting out message to provide information and resources on their new posting location.
