Many families of CF members have voiced frustration with the challenges that relocations place on reaching their education and employment goals. The Employment and Education Assistance program is designed to provide key services to civilian spouses and youth of the military member to support their career development and employment pursuits.
Guidance is offered by individual consultation and also through workshops related to career information, labour market trends, and educational opportunities. Support with career exploration, job searches, writing resumes and cover letters, and practicing interview skills are available. Other services offered include a diverse career resource library and an up-to-date job board with current employment opportunities. Additionally, access to a computer, printer, the Internet, and fax/photocopy services are provided free of charge on site.
The Moose Jaw MFRC coordinates and/or works with other community agencies to provide information and referrals in the following areas:
- Options for training and education (academic upgrading, local post secondary institutions, distance learning)
- Employment resources and support agencies available in the community
- Job search and career development assistance
- Liaise with potential employers and advocate for the client
- Volunteer and job shadowing opportunities
- Self-employment (home based business and entrepreneurial endeavours)
This comprehensive program is intended to assist in facilitating a smooth and successful transition into employment or educational ventures. A commitment to removing barriers, enhancing opportunities, and helping the client reach his/her full potential is paramount.
